Jamaica me Crazy Mon! Day 3

Our third day on our "fabulous cruise" we docked in Jamaica… This is where our fun really began. I had heard terrible things about Jamaica. So we were all on our toes... I was pleasantly surprised, once you got past the downright lies, lazy "No Problem Mon" attitudes, offers for drugs and prostitution and being chased down by crazy people if you didn't purchase or worse yet "laughed" at their wares (Joe and Rusty in particular)... the country isn't half bad :)! But in all seriousness we had a blast in Jamaica. YA MON!!
We had signed up for an excursion through the cruise line, so we got off bright and early and boarded the van for Dunn River Falls... About two minutes into the ride our driver pulled over and informed us that... "we all need water shoes to climb the Falls", the shoes that we had, would "not do!" So we all climbed off at this gross little shop to rent... what we were sure were "fungus filled" shoes for $7 a pair. We were then asked to LEAVE our shoes there... in a basket... with the reassuring "no problem mon... come back later". Hmmmm... something didn't sound right, so I spoke up and said to our driver, “Hey, it never said anything about needing fully covered shoes in our excursion book.” His reply, “well, that is an American book…. This is another country.” ?????? That sounded a little fishy… as did the next comment... “We have a new government now… so it’s a new law.” That's what I call a "downright lie!" We all started saying... no, no, no we don't want them… but it was too late for the forever to be known as "water shoe suckers"…. because Ron and Nancy already had a fancy pair of water shoes on their feet… and their own shoes in a basket. Much to our surprise their shoes were still there when we got back a few hours later... but we laughed all week about it!
I'm looking at this picture noticing the "gangster" sign in the back window... Maybe that should have been a clue about our driver??
The Falls were fabulous and we had an awesome time climbing up and playing in the water. Our guides made it great! They had us get VERY wet and we all had a blast... we purchased the video from our "professional videographer"... the professional part may be a stretch, I got more motion sickness watching that video than being on the ship... but fabulous memories anyway! HOT, HOT, HOT! (Ron came out $50 short when a local "professional diver" found the sunglasses he had lost down the falls. Pretty nice "finder's fee" if you ask me! But he was happy to get his glasses back!)
Our cool guides!

After finishing the falls we boarded on another van and headed for the chairlift up the mountain to ride a “Jamaican bobsled” back down. If any of you have tried the new one in Park City... pretty much the same thing... but definitely different scenery!! It was gorgeous and green! Shane videoed the whole ride... of course I am having problems with the video and am hoping it is even on there!

Some of our favorite things were seeing big strong Rusty shaking in his shoes after being accosted by the Jamaicans vendors…. He was truly nervous... Then all throughout the day, the men were asked if they wanted "a smoke". But apparently Rusty looked like the druggie guy of our group… because he was asked way more than the rest of us!

No problem Mon!

We spent the rest of the day eating... eating some more... watching our friends "Karaoke", playing games and staying up way past our bedtime... (even mine!)

Joe doing "Macho Man"
Matt and DeeAnn as "Sonny and Cher"And Bill... so sorry Bill, I am drawing a blank, but I think you were Elton John??
To be continued...
