Grand Cayman - Day 4

Our second island was Grand Cayman... I love Grand Cayman... it is clean... the people are friendly... it's a spot I could stay at for a while... a long while! Our whole group decided we wanted to go to Sting Ray City... and we were not disappointed. I never thought I WANTED to swim with Sting Rays... but it sure was fun... yes a bit spooky to have 4 ft wide sting rays flapping around your body... but awesome! We booked our own tour with “Moby Dick Tours” they were fabulous. We boarded the boat and headed out for our first stop of snorkeling. It was lots of fun… not too many fish, but amazing eels and extra fun to watch most of our group who were snorkeling for the very first time!
Ron and Raquel ready to go...
Joe and I choked on the sea water when we saw Kim’s reaction to the eel that slithered out from under the rocks… (In order to get a visual picture of the flailing… It kindof looked like me when I see a dog… or my girls… when they go fishing!) We affectionately named Kim “FOE” ‘fraid o’ eel! Unfortunately… Shane wasn’t afraid… our guide who was feeding and playing with the eel, got mad at Shane –who hadn’t heard him telling us 10 times NOT to swim over the rock while he was getting the eel to make an appearance…. Shane swam right over that rock… And came up with a blank look of “What??” I think this is where my fear of having a boy in our family comes in… I can’t even imagine Shane as a young boy… And he has had PLENTY of years to grow out of that… FRIGHTENING!!
As I have mentioned several times I’m not really an animal person… cats, dogs, small rodents make me shake like a baby… but holding and kissing sting rays… seeing eels and weird fish… I’m as cool as a cucumber… well I don't know if I would go that far...!! It was amazing to be out their with the stingrays though. We all had a blast, that was a moment we won't soon forget! Lisa got some weird rash... had to be wiped down with little "towelettes" by the muscular guide... she didn't look like she minded much... but then he HAD been attacked by a shark... TWICE... we saw the scars to prove it. Incidentally she invited him to come to Utah... and then said he could stay with me... that was a bit random, but part of the new side of Lisa we got to know :)!

This is for 7 years of good luck...
Don't I look relaxed??

After our adventures on the sea we got dropped off at “7 mile beach”. Now that is what I call Paradise! WOW! Beautiful. We didn’t stay too long… the sun was strong and the ship was pulling out, but man it was fun!!

Joe and his "crab".
The following picture is a "classic". It was cause of the only grumpiness that we had all week... but well worth it. Here's how it transpired...
1. A bottle of Del Sol nail polish (purchased in Jamaica) - clear inside... BRIGHT PINK when it hits the sun.
2. The plan was for ALL of us to paint our husband's nails (while they were sleeping). We only had two bottles... so I was supposed to do Shane's and then leave it by my door for the next to get it... etc.
That part didn't work...
I waited until Shane was definitely asleep... untucked the covers at his feet and began... I only got one foot done... (but I did do three coats.) The other was tucked underneath him. So I tried to move onto his fingers. I got two... and he woke up... And he didn't wake up HAPPY! He starts smelling his nails, and saying "what is going on here... did you just paint my nails!" "why do you think things like that are funny!" He jumps out of bed and washes his hands (I wanted to remind him that nail polish DOESN'T come off when you wash your hands... but he was WAY GRUMPY - there's no way I would have said that.) I played kind of stupid while he informed me that "I better have nail polish remover." (I just had my nails done for the first time in a very long time... so obviously I had no remover with me!) I just pretended like I was asleep, (and tried not to laugh) while he fumed a little bit. I really needed to get that polish outside the door... but it didn't seem like the time. :)
He was still peeved the next morning. We got off the boat and those nails started showing their "True Color!"... He was still not thinking it was funny... (everyone else did though...) Rusty laughed the hardest... Shane started to loosen up only when I whispered to him to look down at Rusty's toes. Sure enough his were pink too! He felt better having a buddy with pink toenails... the same buddy who had been to "Twilight" with him on opening day... It takes a good man!
2 very secure men... I hate to say it... but I think they liked it... they did explain quite often when they noticed people looking at their feet though. Joe wasn't excited either when he joined the ranks a few nights later! Hehehe... I LOVE that kindof stuff!!

That day like every other… we ate every meal we could, saw every show we could, went to the sail away party where we danced crazy. (Sprinkler Man, Conga Lines, Leaps and Ribbon Dances come to mind.) Laughed at a billion things… that may only be funny to us… (no doubt we were thought of as the “drunk group” who never drank!) Stayed up way to late… slept very little… and absolutely loved it!! (And yes somewhere in there we missed our kids too :)!)
Too be continued...

Ang I'm lovin these posts! The story about the toenails is hilarious! Jeff and I laughed for a good while about that... we could just picture shane getting so mad! That would have been so funny to get on video! I need to do something like that to Jeff... I wonder how he'd react. :)

I've heard a bit about your fun trip through Ron, Nancy and Lisa at the YM's basketball game. I've resolved to do whatever is necessary to come next time! Have you guys ever done a Sandal's resort? We could all fly there, have fun (no ship sea sickness to last for weeks when we get home.) Just an idea for celebrating Shane's birthday next January. What fun!
