WOW! We just returned from our 7 day Caribbean Cruise on the brand new “Ruby Princess”!!! Words can hardly express how fabulous of a time we had… Pictures might help… But won't do it justice... and it may involve several posts but...
Here is the scenario… Months of preparation and anticipation… A week of packing and planning (and shopping for new stuff! :)) A few tans in the tanning booth to not look quite so “pasty”. A great mom and brother and sister-in-law (Andy and Missy) to care for our 4 little angels… A manicure and pedicure... A flight to Ft. Lauderdale the day before the cruise... somehow we "scored" 1st class tickets with our Skymile tickets??? Don't know how, but we didn't argue, and we slept and ate much better than the rest! We didn't feel so lucky when Shane left his I-Pod in that 1st class seat, some disgusting jerk is probably listening to it right now... GRRRRRR Hope all they can find is the religious stuff on it!! I lost my voice again... but only for one day... followed by a hacking cough the whole week (sorry everyone!) 7 couples (and one cute little 3 year old). A lot of laughing until we couldn’t breathe… More food than 14 adults should eat in a very, very, very long time! And WAY more fun than we could EVER have imagined!
After a night in Ft. Lauderdale (we bunked in Ron and Raquel's room... on the pull out coach... comfy!) We boarded the ship as early as we could and headed straight for our “first meal” of the day…we checked out our room and unpacked. Then went up on deck for the “Sailaway Party” where we met up with all of our friends…. And the party began! We got our first glimpse of the fun in store when the guys barely even complained about having to dance for "raffle tickets" without the girls even there.... ??!!

Shane celebrated his 37th Birthday the next day... January 11th – complete with balloons on the door, a song from our friends’, a Birthday Cake at dinner, Birthday wishes in all the activities throughout the day and more.
Honoring the mighty "BIRTHDAY FOOD KING!"

A few of his birthday desserts.... :)
Shane's BIRTHDAY TRADITION is being somewhere Tropical on his cold January Day...

Shane's BIRTHDAY TRADITION is being somewhere Tropical on his cold January Day...
In 2004 we were on a Disney Cruise,
2005 he endured it at home in the cold,
2006 he was working on the temple in Oahu,
in 2007 I flew with all the girls to Hawaii to meet him after working in Oahu again,
In 2008 we were on our 2nd Disney Cruise and
2009 we were partying with our friends.
I wonder what next year will bring! It's a tradition that I don't mind... except when he goes without us :(!
Since it was Shane’ Birthday we followed him around all day eating… he became known as the “food guru” in our group. He could tell us the open times of every restaurant, buffett, hidden food area etc. We all followed him around and ate when we weren’t hungry just because we could! Besides food we did a little line dancing, learned the “Merengue”, got a little sun out on the decks, played games, made a LOT of noise, watched a fantastic “Production Show”, laughed with the comedians and entertainment. And all together enjoyed our first full "day" together on the Cruise!
To be continued....
