How Styles Change...

The other day my girls and I were in Kohl's - as we walked up to the men's department, there was this huge display of men's shirts and ties - all in pastels. I quite like the look, but Shane just isn't into it... he says he needs to "stand out" in our families' sea of pink. I can't argue with that! As we got closer to this display Kenna was amazed and said in her very loudest voice, "What is all of this mom! Do girls wear ties or something and what about those shirts - maybe they are for moms but dads would DEFINITELY not wear any of that!!" There was a guy standing there looking at the shirts, he smiled, but I noticed he didn't walk away with any... After we moved on I assured her that girls don't wear ties and that they were all for dads... but then I remembered something - when I was an Aggiette we had a game day outfit that included a tie - I never quite understood the look, but since Shane feels that he always gets picked on in this blog I guess I can put a picture or two of me in here... (Actually as far as the picked on thing is concerned, I told Shane that if I don't write down his great stories how will we ever remember them?? His response... Some things and moments are best not remembered! I beg to differ...) Anyway... I am at the very bottom (short dark hair if you couldn't tell.)

Apparently we were trying to start some kind of a new style... what style I am not sure, but it didn't catch on anywhere except maybe with the waitresses at Olive Garden!! Looking back now, the best part of the outfit is actually those navy clod hoppers - Captain Hook shoes we wore with our white tights... What were we thinking! (I am also noticing that I am the only girl in the whole group that doesn't have a PERM...)

On another note I bought Shane some "cool" plaid shorts at Old Navy the other day (yes they do have SOME pastel in them - but not fully). He tried them on and said, "I kindof feel like these could be your shorts, like a little feminine." I assured him that they looked great. I called Tayler to come see what she thought. Her first response... "Oh Dad, those are PRETTY!" This was not what he was hoping for! (I first wrote here that she said they were SOOO cute which is the 5th and highest level on the cuteness scale... when I told Shane about this post he informed me that she said "PRETTY" not "SOOO cute". Pretty according to him comes even higher on the scale of feminity than cute!) But he did keep them... We'll see if he ever wears them. (And if you see him in them... and you think they look "pretty" please don't tell him!)

Did you know that some of your old outfits are in the costume closet downstairs at your parents house? I found some when I was looking through it last year.

Your "waitresses at Olive Garden" observation was spot on! Hee! Hee! My hubby is like Shane. Only he also can't abide floral material anywhere in the master bedroom. I guess he feels that it would be a reflection on him. Whatever! You could always get Shane a t-shirt that says, "Real men wear pink." But would he wear it?

Missy... is telling me my old outifts are in the "costume closet" supposed to make me feel better about myself! And Christie, the "real men wear pink" shirt would only work if it was say... Navy Blue...
