Cancun

Spring Break 2021 was a great one.

6 days in Cancun Mexico.

The weather was perfect, our resort was perfect... it just couldn't have been more perfect.

I found an awesome deal on our resort and we ended up getting an ocean front all-inclusive room for $1700 for the 6 nights... for the 5 of us.  TOTAL.

I'm ready to go back!

We left for the airport bright and early on Saturday April 3rd (around 3 am) our flight was great and we arrived in Cancun around 3 pm.

In time to listen to part of Saturday Afternoon's General Conference in the car on the way to the resort.

Our resort "Ventus and Marina El Cid" was in Puerto Morelos... about 30 minutes from the Cancun Airport.

We explored the resort, swam and had our first yummy meal.
And our first of FAR TOO MANY fruity drinks.
(Yes Lisa, on the very first day. wink wink)

Sunday... was Easter and we woke up to this view right out our window... plus the Easter bunny had found our girls.

We had such a relaxing day, chilling in a cabana listening to General Conference on the beach.
I love watching General Conference in my basement in my PJ's...
but I think this beats the basement. haha

Plus it's probably not the BEST way to fill in the break between conference.
But it sure felt nice to chill in the sun!

Monday we drove to XPLOR.
What a fun, adventurous park!

There was an "amphibious vehicle" course.
Kenna, Jadyn and I had a blast in our car.

But apparently Lydia didn't have nearly as much fun with Shane. hahaha

There was paddling a raft in an underground cave.
This was NOT my favorite part.
Too crowded and no control.
Plus we had to do all the work with these little hand paddles. haha

We all loved the underground expedition though!

We took LOTS of pictures throughout the park.
Since we payed for the package we took plenty.

It took some of us a minute to figure out where we were supposed to be looking though. ;)

Oh dear...

There was the "Hammock Splash"... it was fun, we landed right in the water.

Shane got in trouble for this next pic... since the rules clearly stated to keep your feet OUT of the net.
But in true Shane style... he did it this way the second time too.
The rest of us pretended we weren't with him...

We almost missed the stalactite river swim... and would have if we hadn't talked to Kenna's BEST FRIEND who told us to go... and who just happened to be there on the same day as us!  We knew they were in Cancun but didn't expect to see them there or be on the same flight home. haha

Utah and especially Logan truly represented in Cancun this week.
Shelby and her family were there (we didn't see them).
But at this park we saw a total of 5 families we knew from Cache Valley... it was so crazy!!

The Ziplining was SUPER fun!

What a fun day we had at XPLOR!
The weather was perfect, we had time to fit it all in, the food was all-inclusive with a pretty great BBQ.
I 100% recommend XPLOR park when in Cancun!

Tuesday was spent at the resort.  Lots of swimming, hanging in the sun and eating.

Oh and foam pool parties. haha

Throughout the week we had lots and lots and lots of chips, salsa and guacamole.
Kenna may have ate 30 avocados worth of guac over the week. haha

Shane and I had our fair share too.

We were all exhausted after our busy "lounge around the pool" day.

Wednesday bright and early we drove to Chi Chen Itza.
It was a long drive, but we're glad we did it.
Shane and I had both been there.
Shane while working on the Merida Temple, and me on my "Spanish Trip" @ Logan High.
It was fun to bring the girls though.
Our guide was nice and super informative.
Our only complaint was that it was hotter than we were used to and none of us liked that we had to wear our masks. haha (But to be truthful it was not a hot day... it wouldn't have been nearly as much fun in the summer!)

I had done lots of research on Cenotes in the area.
I planned on having us stop at lots of them... but I wasn't aware that there was a fee at each one.
So we were not prepared with enough pesos. haha

We decided on Cenote Oxman near Valladolid.

It was beautiful, clear and warm
We had fun swimming around and swinging on the rope swing.
Even I did the rope swing, so that tells you it wasn't too scary!

We stopped in Valladolid and walked around.
Shane found us these yummy fruit popsicles.

We had really debated whether it was worth it to get a car.
Reviews weren't great, people had bad experiences etc. etc.
In the end we were so glad we had a car.
We didn't have any problems and only were stopped by the police at a checkpoint with 30 armed  police officers once. haha
They were super nice and sent us on our way pretty quick.

Other than a few missed stop signs... I guess ALTO is harder to understand for Shane?  And a million  speed bumps all in all it was great.

We had lots of yummy dinners.
The resort had Seafood, Italian, French and Mediterranean Restaurants.
We tried them all and enjoyed each of them.

This night we ate at the buffet and sent this picture to Tayler and Saige...

Who quickly sent this picture back.

Glad to see they were also enjoying a delicious meal with good company.
Thanks Mom and Dad for taking care of them.

Thursday was another day lounging around the resort.

The resort had a catamaran that they could take us out on.  What a fun time.
It's funny, but this is the first day we had actually felt the ocean water and it was so warm!

We decided to drive into Puerto Moreles where we were told there was better snorkeling.

We didn't see much but had a good time looking.

We spent a lot of time at the bar throughout the week. hahaha
Getting those fruity drinks of course.
This is our friend... creating "The Kenna" as he named it for her.
1/2 mango and 1/2 pina colada.

We had fun at the night entertainment.
This night was a "glow in the dark paint" dance party.
It was hilarious because Kenna and Jadyn's teeth glowed so funny with their invisalign attachments. haha

All in all it could only have been more perfect if the older girls/hubbies could have been there.
But the five of us had fun together and enjoyed our time in the sun.
I'm so glad this is what we picked for Spring Break 2021!

Our girls are growing up too fast.
I'm having denial and anxiety about them being gone so soon.
So these moments are what I crave!
