China 2019 The Forbidden City

After we checked into our Beijing Hotel we walked to the Forbidden City.
PS... it was a long walk

We first visited Tianaman Square.
Saige made a few friends.

Tiananmen Square is directly across the street from the Forbidden City.

We ended up meeting a professor at the Beijing University who we paid to give us a tour.  She was super informative, spoke great English and answered all our questions.  Totally worth it!

The Forbidden City was the "Imperial Palace" from the 1400's to 1911.
Only the elite could enter hence why it is called The Forbidden City.
There are 980 buildings... it's HUGE!!

There is definitely some pollution in Beijing.
But this is a photo of the forbidden city buildings.
It really is a city in a city!

We walked back to the hotel.  This day was high intensity walking!

We explored on the way back...

Ate yummy food.
This was about as intense of Chinese food as my girls dared. haha

We always shared everything cuz we weren't sure who would like what!

That night we walked to the "silk market".  It was a super bardering type market.  This was the night that Kenna scored a great deal on Fjallraven backpack.
Everyone kindof made fun of her... that is until they found out what a great deal she got on a super real-not-knock-off backpack.  We went back the next night and bought... this is no joke... 18 more.

 We were in Beijing China...
We all kept saying how weird it was that we were actually in China!
The parts of China that we went to, Shanghai and Beijing, were super westernized.  So sometimes it was easy to forget.
Except of course that other white people were few and far between. haha
