December 2023

 December... was busy and fantastic.

There was Lydia's piano recital.  I love to hear her play and especially love that she LOVES to play!

Thanks for all the support everyone!

We decided Max needed to make the Christmas card... so the family picture @ Kenna and Quincy's wedding wouldn't do.

Thanks to Keaton's brother Parker who snapped this one for us at the end of the street after pretty much the only snowfall we had in December. He's not a "professional" but he has captured our Christmas Card two years in a row... so he's getting close!

I love sending Christmas Cards.
So happy that lots of people love sending them too!

How cute is this?????

and what a great tree we found this year!

I love seeing Saige teach her class. Her kids are so blessed to have her.  And I think they know it, she is VERY loved by ALL of them!

Miss Mia got her ears pierced.
And didn't even cry...
Look at her crown!

The Cache Valley Bank "fancy dinner" and the American Festival Chorus Christmas concert following it were a fantastic way to feel the Christmas Spirit.

Dress-up days with this princess.
She wore this "mulan" dress for 5 days straight her mom says.
We got these "nightgowns" for Saige and Tay, back in 2001 when I went with Shane to Taiwan.
I never thought about grandkids loving it!

And I made this for Tayler for her FIRST Halloween. ;)
It's tight on Mia but was definitely HUGE on baby Tayler.

Lydia and Jadyn still very much enjoy their 24 day countdown.
I mean... who wouldn't enjoy a present everyday the whole month, right?

I finished two of these quilts...
One for me and one for Shelly.

We visited the "nativity" displays @ Tay's church.

INCREDIBLE... is the only word to describe it.
I mean I LOVE nativities.
But this lady... who owns and displays ALL of these and has more at home.
She is OBSESSED with nativities.

Mia said this one was her favorites... so she "posed" with it.

But really she was fascinated with all of them.

I mean look at her... she couldn't even be bothered to turn for the picture.
Or it might have just been that she couldn't be bothered... sometimes you can't tell. ;)

Lydia is a little artist.
Look at those nails!
Kenna is quite excited about this new skill of hers... cuz 6 sets of nails + toenails was a lot to be responsible for.

Aggie games are the best.
Thanks mom and dad!

And these two... how adorable are those little faces.

and this little guy... he's dreamy.

Parent lunch with Lydia once a month at North Cache has been an experience.
I love Lydi... so I go.
And each month I've made it for the last 1.5 years, has reminded me that Middle School is absolutely... AWFUL...
+ I'm reassured of my knowledge that I would have been a TERRIBLE middle school teacher.
Those teachers do NOT get enough credit. haha

Kabuki is delicious... we hadn't been for a very long time!

I love our gingerbread house tradition.
I'm cheap... and since 5 houses in December are $20 each.
I started buying them after Christmas for $6 each... I mean it's not like we eat them or anything.
But next year I'll remember to make fresh frosting. ;)

We had a "Fastle" Gift Exchange @ Tayler and Jaden.
Such a fun night, we love hanging out with the Astle's!

There was our 18th annual neighborhood party.

Simon joined us for the month of December.
Mia loved finding him whenever she was over.

These guys had a sleepover with Saige and Keaton one night.

These two make Christmas so fun... what will I do without them???

You know what's weird???
Having only ONE girl in dance.
You know what's even weirder???
I still feel like I'm paying just as much... ??

Lydi did fabulous in the Winter Showcase!

We had our annual "sleep under the tree" on Christmas Adam.

Then... before we knew it... and far too quickly for me.
Christmas Eve was here.

A Delicious lunch...

Chimes is always a favorite... Although most don't look like it's their favorite. ;)

Then there is the acting out of the nativity.
Max was an adorable and perfect baby Jesus.

This year we had a spoons tournament.
Jeff very proudly captured the first title and trophy.

It wouldn't be family get-together without a short nap from Poppa in the midst of all the chaos.

A few pictures in front of the tree...then it was just our family left.

We opened our "Christmas Eve PJ's".
Disney Cruise sweatshirts, sweats and socks.

Then the marrieds all headed of to their other families.
It was a pretty quite rest of the night for the other four of us.

Christmas Morning...

Santa came... Jadyn found the "pickle" and captured $50.

We had a yummy lunch and presents at Grandma and Poppa's.

At 3:30 we finally started opening presents. haha

Such a fabulous Christmas this year!

Lydia's Birthday (the 29th) we drove to Bear Lake to spend the night @ the Horman's beautiful house.

We had lots of fun playing games, watching a movie, and celebrating our Lydia!

Cake by Jadyn...

We planned on Firehouse for dinner.
Until we got there and it was a 1.5 hour wait.
For takeout.
So Jadyn called Aloha to see if they were open... and guess what?!?
They said they were open.
We all LOVE Aloha...

So you can imagine our disappointment when we arrived only to find out it was a new restaurant...
Fusion 89.

We ALL agree this was definitely the most random restaurant we've ever been to.

This is very unkind... I am aware... but picture a white trash family...
and you'll have an image of why we were a little nervous about the food we'd be consuming

Saige's favorite was the 30 something daughter working... who very loudly asked, "Can I go home now Mom????"
There were LOTS of things on the menu... although most were crossed out by the time we got there.

There was fish and chips, bbq sandwiches, lobster sliders, mac n cheese, teriyaki chicken, burritos, curry, garlic shrimp.  It was just all super random.

Honest review... what I had was pretty good..
Would I go back... nope.

They did give us a few boxes of these fried apples for the birthday girl.
That was very kind of them.

Tayler and Jaden went home to sleep...
but the other 8 of us slept in this room.

Which meant we got to hear both Keaton and Quincy "sleep talk". ;)

A yummy pancake breakfast and some games downstairs.

Then we cleaned up and headed home.
The home is beautiful!
Thanks for letting us stay Horman's. (kiss kiss)

New Year's Eve we celebrated Poppa's 83rd Birthday!
What a guy... we all love you Poppa!!

We ended 2023 with the Astle's and Hansen't over for games.

How did another year slip by so fast??!!

Here's to 2024!
