Disney Cruise 2022

(Warning... a thousand pictures in this one haha)

Wow, is there a better week we could have had???

I think not!

After a canceled trip in 2021 due to Covid and stressing about being able to get all 22 of us on board without having Covid this year... we enjoyed being on the Disney Cruise even MORE!

It just couldn't have been more perfect!

The Disney Fantasy has a capacity of 4200... our cruise had just over 1300.
So it was a definitely a different atmosphere.  But I thought it was PERFECT... no lines for characters... more opportunity to participate and win in trivia, games etc. It was easy to get around and get on and off the ship.

But it also felt a little bit like the excitement level was a down from the entertainment staff.
Character greetings were different since they couldn't interact.  They stayed pretty far away and you could tell it was hard for the characters too.  Like little girls who want to hold hands with the princesses while they are dancing around and they couldn't.  That part was weird.

The kids clubs were not great.  You had to sign up for a 2 hour time slot... and then stay with that group of 8 kids for the whole time with a counselor.  Lydia is 12... the last year for kids club and if she could have gone in and played on the computers, moved around where she wanted to etc. she might have liked it.  But, she went the first time with Elle and Clara and said that was definitely enough for her.

She peeked in to the pre-teen club she could go to but didn't even stay.
Jadyn went for about 10 minutes to the teen club... there were only 5 kids in there and she made a quick exit. Especially after one of the boys ran to get his cousin because there was a new girl there.  She was not into that. hahahaha

Since this was the first cruise that kids under 12 had to be vaccinated, the kids club said it was the least kids they'd ever had on the Disney Fantasy that week.

For me the good definitely outweighed the bad... even with the masks.

After getting home and look at pictures from other years... it's AMAZING the difference in how many people were EVERYWHERE on our other cruises.

My opinion is it was the best time to go!!

We ALL love this sight!!

After our COVID tests and nervous anticipation to get our results back... (which thankfully were ALL negative!) we headed to the cruise check in area.

Which was empty

That was weird... honestly not one other passenger in there!

We were a little later than usual, but that place is usually hoppin'!
With a long line to check-in.
A long line for a picture with Mickey.
And people waiting around to be called to board.

Not this time... no people + no lines + no Mickey.
The lights weren't even turned on.

The first of many ice creams haha

There was fun in the sun.

Oh Clara, is there a picture that exemplifies pure bliss better than this one????

I think not.

The raisin toes.
The crossed leg.
The closed eyes.

THIS is cruise life at it's best!

Mia LOVED "Nemo's"... and we loved watching her playing in Nemo's!

We saw lots of characters.
And we all disliked the pictures with masks...

Ate LOTS of delicious food!

When you can't decide on dessert you just get them all... haha

This is what the aftermath of Shane's favorite lunch looks like...

This is what my favorite lunch looks like... (heart eyes).

Originally our cruise was going to Puerto Rico & St. Maarten. (I think?) But 2 days before the cruise departed we were told that our itinerary had changed and we were now going to Naussau, Cozumel and Costa Maya... + Castaway Cay of course.  That messed up our excursions but it turned out just fine.

Unfortunately... the saddest part about our cruise was being all ready to disembark for Castaway Cay... and while sitting at breakfast hearing over the intercom that we would not be able to dock @ Castaway Cay because of winds.

That was sad.

Really sad.

It's one of our favorite parts of the week and we were all hoping that somehow... at the end of the week we'd be able to get back there... but nope, no Castaway for us this time. :(

We did make it to Naussau though.

We didn't have an excursion planned so we just got off the ship and walked around.
We ended up finding the "Queen's Staircase".
And of course fit some shopping time in.

There was Formal Night

Our favorite picture for so many reasons haha

I mean how stupid was it that when the photographers came around at dinner... we had to put our masks ON.  haha we just said no to the photographers after the first dinner.

Cozumel

Pirate Night... somewhere along the way we missed the fact that there wasn't a pirate night haha

Us and about three other families missed it.

But we dressed up anyway.
Because that's a lot of pirate stuff to bring and not use.
PLUS Mia's parrot outfit that Tay made... had to be worn.

And they still had the pirate backdrops out...
so I'm not sure what excuse they had for that.
It must have been dangerous with COVID hahaha

In Costa Maya our family just walked around and shopped @ the port shops.  A bunch of others took a tour to the Chacchoben ruins

Star Wars Day @ Sea

There was Karaoke.

And these two cuties won the "Match your Mate Game".

Lydia and I won the "How well do you know your family Game."

We did NOT win this game.

These 2 did NOT win this game

But we did win the Disney Music Trivia!

And we all love a good dance party.

Gosh my grandbaby is dang near perfect!

Ice Cream, Ice Cream, Ice Cream... we had an awful lot of ice cream.
But Lydia laughed at this sign every time. Cuz there were only 4 flavors and she didn't think there were "so many flavors it's scary!" hahaha

Lydia and her stuffed animals... she loves them more than you can imagine!

Why is room service so fun?  I don't know but it is no matter what age you are!

Goofy's mini golf is always fun.

Kenna loved her pizza from Flo's.
It was ALWAYS the same guy working there, and Kenna ALWAYS got the same order.
So at the end of the cruise she said... "I bet you know what I'm going to get."  And the guy just looked at her.  He had no idea what she was going to get and she was mortified.
Maybe you had to be there... but it was hilarious!

Such cute bunk mates...

I'm so grateful for my parents!
We'll never forget these memories with you two!

Awww that face hahaha... honestly this was about as sad as we saw her.
Pretty much just an, "Ughh I don't want any more pictures mom!" face.

Who doesn't love a good cruise towel animal??

Our own animation @ Animator's Palate is such a hit!

It was over way too fast...

But we clearly loved every second of the cruise and being together!!

Thanks mom and dad for such an amazing week!
