May 2021

This May was definitely busier than last May. hahaha

It was lovin' on baby Mia month.

5 days old and already celebrating "May the 4th".

What a fun new tradition... the teachers deliver these signs to every house... of every Senior.

There was Mother's Day.

A jump zone night for these 3... thanks Saige and Keaton!

Yay for the baptistry opening up!  By appointment only... but I worked the system and had ALL of us schedule appointment times... which means we went 3 times in May.

There were end of year awards.

Like Lydia getting the Great American Award.

That's an amazing task that meant A LOT of extra effort on her part.  I appreciate her teacher Mrs. Egan encouraging her class to earn this.

The requirements are...

On a map label all 50 states and capitals with correct spelling.

Recite in order of Presidency, the Presidents of the United States….first and last names.

Write the Pledge of Allegiance.  Spelling and punctuation must be correct.

Sing or recite by memory the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner.

Recite by memory the Preamble of the United States Constitution.

Recite by memory the Gettysburg Address.

Answer the questions correctly on the 7 parts of the US Citizenship test.

And this girl did it!  So proud of you Lydia!

Plus some fun art projects by Lydia.

and her graduation from NOVA (formerly DARE).

There was fun at the new park in Hyde Park.

A delicious fancy dinner at Le Nonne.  Thanks Mom and Dad!

Shane installed our wood floors in the front room and hall.

There was some golf time for these guys.

Some golf for Jadyn.  JV didn't have as many opportunities to golf this year... not sure if it was COVID or just more JV golfers from each school?  But it was fun to watch her when she played!

There was Region and State for Kenna.
She finished off strong and I was so proud of her!

Golf is a super pressure filled, emotional sport.  And Kenna wears all her emotions on her sleeve.

Most matches had tears... she didn't even have to be doing terrible as a whole... one bad hole she might be fine and then the next day if it was a bad hole she'd break down... Coach T called those "breakdowns"... "Outbursts".  So when I'd come late to a match he'd always say "She hasn't had any outbursts yet... it's a good day" or "We've already had one outburst but I think she's recovered".

Ironically some of the most "outburst" days were days she got her best scores.  But being the perfectionist she is... if she didn't bear her best score then it wasn't going to be a good day.

Golf's a mental game, I'm grateful for a coach who told the girls he didn't care about their scores.  He cared that they tried, that they had a good time and were making new friends, and that they appreciated the opportunity to be out golfing on a beautiful day.  He was the kind of coach Kenna needed.

This year was an amazing year for GC golf.

They played fantastic together, tied for Region, finished 6th in state, and made lifetime friendships.

I was grateful to be able to make it to almost every match.

We were watching the flat whipping that Saige was trying to control... and she though it looked like a Disney World "magic shot" so a little photoshopping of balloons was fitting for this pic. haha

And we can't forget this!!!

This is the biggest honor of all... cuz there are 22 schools in 4A!

Lydia had lots of soccer games... with a whole bunch of devoted fans!

She's lots of fun to watch!  Our little Lydi loves soccer!

There was Senior Ball for Kenna.
She looked gorgeous!!

There was lots of time with sweet baby Mia...

There was all of the graduation stuff and a fun dinner.

Lydia had a piano recital that night and she rocked it... and apparently I didn't get a picture of that event!

There was Memorial Day Weekend at Bear Lake.

May was a busy one.
And an awesome one... bring on summer!
