As one might imagine the first 11 days of August were taken up with preparing for the wedding.
Random last minute stuff like scooping ice cream into the wee hours of the night. ;)
I expected to be EXHAUSTED the morning after the wedding.
Actually I wasn't.
I stayed up late putting things away until around 2, then woke up at 6:30 am and headed to the hangar to clean up for a couple of hours.
Then spent the rest of the day delivering cookies and thank yous to so many who helped us.
But Sunday morning...
that was a different story.
This picture tells it all, 8 am church was rough that day.
Kenna took this.... hahahahaha
How embarrassing...
I think we all took "another" nap that afternoon. hahahaha
We did fit a few things in before the wedding, even a trip to Lagoon with their friends 3 days before the wedding.
(Jadyn may have guilted me into it when I heard someone ask her what we had done this summer and she said... just wedding stuff.)
A week or so later their friends' mom Amy, repayed the favor and took our girls. :)
We even spent a few hours there a couple days before Saige left for Connecticut.
(I don't think they were THAT deprived this summer, right?)
We had some fun times with cute Tara who came for the first couple weeks of August.
A sleepover in the backyard with cousins Tara and Megan
A Sunday walk up the canyon
Dentist appointments with our favorite dentist. ;) (Uncle Jeff.)
Saige said goodbye to her friends at Zipz.
She loved that job + the people she worked and lived with this summer.
Josh and Kayla took these cuties mini-golfing one afternoon.
Kenna went golfing with Shane. haha
They had a primary party and "CTR man" came.
hahahahahahahaha
Dance started up...
Only 8 lessons/week this year. haha
Kenna fit in a couple of days doing Baptisms with ward friends.
Two days after the wedding Shane headed off to Chicago to work on the Temple for a week. Then back the next week for a couple days.
So he wasn't there to see Saige off at the airport with us.
What a sad day letting her go for a WHOLE year to Westport Connecticut to nanny for Jackie and Eddie Ibanez.
They have two girls.. Coda 5 & JJ 23 months, and are expecting a boy in December.
She has had so many awesome experiences already.
She visits NYC almost every weekend with friends from her student ward + she is totally a mom. Doing EVERYTHING a mom would do. She cleans, cooks, takes care of the kids and works 60+ hours a week. Oh, and has 12 credits from USU online... she's not bored.
I might add here, they love her.
I mean LOVE her.
I don't know if they'll ever let her come home!!
She made it to the Manhattan Temple to do Baptisms and to Aladdin her first weekend there.
I love randomly checking find my friends and seeing my baby girl right there in the Big Apple on the weekends.
They took her to a Philadelphia Eagles game in Philly.
She actually asked us, "what sport do the Eagles play?"
:):):):):):)
It's working out great for her!
Tayler and Jaden honeymooned in Maui.
So glad they live close, because I get to see them all the time!!
The kids all headed back to school on the 23rd.
I wasn't ready for them to go back until about 2 days before it started.
Perfect timing. ;)
Kenna is a freshmen @ the brand new Green Canyon High School.
(An awfully cute freshmen I might add.)
She's part of the wolfpack now.
Lydia started 2nd grade @ Cedar Ridge Elementary.
A brand new school for her since the Chinese Dual Immersion moved there this year.
I had a bad mom moment this day.
Last year school started at 9, so I just assumed it was 9 this year.
I wasn't sure how to get both Jadyn and Lydia to school on time at two different schools so we left early.
We frantically arrived at 8:45, and literally ran inside, took a quick picture with her English teacher Mrs. Kempton and didn't even talk to the Chinese teacher.
As we were running back to the car Jadyn said, "mom, you know school starts at 9:15 right?"
Oh my gosh, I wondered where all the kids were when I took her in!!
I actually thought to myself, "that's weird, they must have an opening assembly in the gym cuz there aren't ANY kids in the classrooms.)
Yep Lydia was the first one at school 1/2 hour early on the 1st day of school. hahaha
Her teacher must have thought I was super anxious to get this school year started!!
Jadyn started 6th grade @ North Park Elementary.
She was not one bit happy about having to change elementary schools for 6th grade.
(Our boundaries changed with all the new schools.)
She admits that it hasn't been as bad as she thought, but she does miss her Greenville friends. :(
Still one of the first kids in her class due to our "early start." haha
A few days later our USU kids had their first day of school.
Saige... online.
It's been an adjustment for her, but she's doing great!!
And Tayler and Jaden started their senior year at USU.
So proud of all of them!!
We had a fun ward party.
We were so glad that we found time to make it "Shrek" at Pickleville.
It was SO cute!!! We ALL loved it.
August was AWESOME!!
