Back in August my cute friend Lisa planned a cruise.
(that girl is ALWAYS planning something ;))
And of course she quite easily convinced me to put the small refundable deposit down.
Shane was off on a Temple trip so I hadn't mentioned it to him.
Then... a couple days later we had some legal matters pop up unexpectedly.
And it just didn't seem like the time to mention it.
Months past and then the refundable part ended.
And I still hadn't mentioned it to Shane.
So he was pretty surprised when his Christmas gift ended up being a cruise in February. :)
(He had plenty of hints along the way and should have figured it out. But he's just not an observant guy... so I never have to work very hard to surprise him. hahaha)
We are pretty blessed to have such awesome, capable girls.
Tayler and Saige handled it mostly themselves... with some help from Grandma, and sweet Kayla & Kimi who watched Lydia during the mornings.
February 26th came and we caught a red-eye flight to Miami.
4 hours later we were on board the Carnival Breeze for 8 days.
Ready for a fantastic week with our good friends the Astle's, and our new friends the Down's.
(The Astle's and Down's have been friends for years, and now we know why! We had a great time with them!)
The first 2 days were sea days.
You already know that Shane's favorite part of the cruise was the food.
Being restricted to only 3 meals/day is just rough on him in the real world.
6 large meals + some snacks and plenty of ice cream in between suits him much better. ;)
Our 22nd anniversary was two weeks before so we celebrated on the cruise.
At least Shane celebrated...
with Sheila apparently. ;)
We got a huge kick out of the steward leaving us that note.
The last day somehow he figured it out and changed it.
And was SO embarrassed and apologetic when he saw me in the hall that day.
That was pretty funny.
We were not at all sad about seeing the sun!
Our first stop was St. Maarten.
Lisa booked us a speed boat around the island.
Our first stop Pinel Island
Then on to a couple of snorkel spots.
Then a yummy BBQ lunch and a stop at Airport Beach.
We took our traditional pictures in St. Maarten.
This was our 4th visit here, and we love it every time!
A great day capped off with dinner, a show, games and of course ice cream.
Our 4th day was a tour of the beautiful island of Antigua.
Keisha was our guide for the day and we toured a plantation.
Visited Devils Bridge.
Stopped at several lookouts.
Had a delicious lunch here.
Stopped at a beach and found us our newest pet... Antigua. ;)
Such a beautiful island!
St. Thomas never disappoints.
We took a taxi to a beach.
Did some jumping.
and exploring...
back on the ship for ping-pong tournaments.
The ropes course.
Riding the water slides.
and more food...
It was definitely shaping up to be a great week!
