Shane's 2 seconds of fame!

We have just spend the last week in San Diego and unfortunately have to start the trek home tomorrow.  We've had a great time of course...  and yes these last two trips were VERY close together.  With only 1 day in between Palmyra and San Diego for packing/laundry etc.

But last Saturday on our way here we had a crazy experience.
We feel blessed.
Blessed that we were not 30 seconds ahead...
Because we missed a crash by that much.
(and also missed a crash back by Cedar when a bike flew out of the back of a truck before us.)

We pulled into Vegas heading to our hotel for the night.
We were all excited to be getting close so that they could swim for a bit...
but our plans changed when we came upon this...

Before all the fire engines and police were there blocking roads in all directions.

We had a pretty jovial time standing out on the road for the 1 1/2 hours we were stopped there, and quickly found out that we were very lucky to have not been in the 15 car pile up ahead of us.
We were 7 cars behind that.

The road was slick as could be...
covered in oil from that semi at the front of the pack who lost it all going down the ramp.

The news crew for Vegas's Channel 8 news was there...
At one point Tayler and I walked down further and they asked us if we would like to be interviewed.
We hadn't SEEN the wreck so I told them NO since we wouldn't be very helpful.

Then later they stopped at our car and asked Shane if he would like to be interviewed.
Of course Shane gave a hearty "sure".  I'm sitting next to him thinking, "we have driven all day and there is no way I want to be on camera..."

So...
they pull out their honkin' camera and point it right at him...
I hand Tayler our video camera to video from the back.
And I scoot as close to the door as I can...
And look straight ahead.
Kindof with the "If I can't see you, you can't see me theory."
Unfortunately that lens had a wider angle than I thought and both Shane and I were caught in all our glory.

We saw it on the news that night and laughed til' we cried.  Then watched it again and again and again and laughed hysterically every.single.time.
We couldn't decide who was more funny Shane or me...
It's really not THAT funny...  to anyone besides us I am sure.
But oh my it will be a family classic FOREVER.

Don't worry...I can't stop laughing either. So many great things about the video! Hahaha. I like Shane's "whoa" that kind of sounds like a sheep, or Ang back in the shadows refusing to look over. The other interviews were great too.
