Out of the mouths of babes... April - October 2011

It's been a while since I posted some of the more memorable family quotes from the past few months...
Basically what we refer to as "Jadynisms"...
Since they mainly come from her at this stage in life.

We were driving and Jadyn said sweetly...
"Do you know I love you mom?"
I said, "O, Jady that is so nice."
After a bit Tayler burst out laughing and told me that Jady had said right before her sweet comment...
"Watch this guys I'm gonna ask mom for some M&M's."

Jadyn had a friend over and I heard this conversation...
Jadyn... "My dad can drink a whole pop in one sip!"
Her Friend...  "How?"
Jadyn's reply...  "I don't know maybe he's really thirsty.  Or magic or something!"

Another friend was over and asked her what her daddy looked like.
She replied, "well he has black hair, he came to my spotlight day you saw him there, he just looks like... my dad!"

Lydia was bathing and Jadyn was freaking out that she had just peed in the tub.
I said, "O, Jady that's OK she's just a baby."
And Jadyn replied, "Yah, it's OK.  I pee in the tub all the time."
I said, "O when you were a baby?"
"Nope... now."

Jadyn and I made snickerdoodles.  I taught her how to roll them in balls by getting flour on her hands and then clapping most of it off.
After a few batches she said, "are we clapping because someone did something good?"

Saige gave Jadyn a jolly rancher.  She popped it in her mouth and then quickly pulled it out to check the flavor.
She asked Saige was it was since it was green.
Saige told her it was green apple.
Jadyn was relieved, "O good I thought it was a booger!"

I asked Jadyn who she looked more like... me or Daddy.
She was quick to reply, "I guess more like you because Dad doesn't have much hair!"

Jadyn came running in from the garage and said, "there's a bee out there, quick bring me a bee slap!"
I assumed that was a fly swatter. :)

One night at dinner Shane said, "what are you doing Houdini" to Lydia who was squirming her way out of her high chair.  Saige got really nervous and said, "Dad... Houdini is a swear word!"
hmmmmm...  we had no idea. :)

Jadyn to Kenna...
"Wouldn't it be awesome if we were married?"

The girls were sleeping on the tramp one night.
Jadyn came in to ask me this question...
"Will a bat poop on me in the night?"
I had to pinkie promise...

We went to get ice cream... the girls had samples and the worker said, "Keep your spoon. :)"  Jadyn must have got another one because as she was leaving I noticed she was really nervous and she said... "O, no mom I threw my spoon away, is that OK even though the man said to keep it???"

I never have any good ones from Tayler so I liked this one...
I took her to Texas Roadhouse, for our "individual lunch".
We were sitting by a Chinese family and I told Tayler that Dad would have wished he was here so he could chat.  Tayler said, "ya know, I think Chinese and Asians look the same don't you?"

I told Jadyn to go get ready for bed so that she would be ready for school the next day. (This is about day 3 of Kindergarten.)
Her reply, "oh no, this is the part that I HATE!  My teacher telled me we were doing math tomorrow and I already did that at home once...  I really don't think I need to do it again!   grrrrrr!"

We went to the library with Jadyn... pure giddiness when she found a Justin Beiber movie!  On the way home she said, "Do you know why me and my sisters like him so much?"
"It's cuz he's SOOO cute!"
Me... "Well I think you're cute Jadyn!"
Her... "Um.... mom... I'm not as cute as HIM!"

Making Jadyn's bed one day she said... "Man, this bed is stubborned today!"

Jadyn to me...
"What would we do if we didn't have mouths???"
"Well Jadyn I don't know..."
Her... "I guess we'd all just hum."

As Jadyn is picking her croutons off her salad at Olive Garden...
"here mom you have these, I don't really like sandwiches on my salad."

We were sitting on the couch and I was running my fingers through Jadyn's hair.
I said, "Jady your hair is so pretty."
She replied... "I know... I'm pretty much like Rapunzel, huh?"

Walking home from the bus with Jadyn she saw mushrooms in our neighbors yard and she said,
"WOW, that mushroom is big enough to throw like a frisbee!  I wish I could!"

Driving by the Logan Temple, Jady announced proudly that she was going to get married there and then said,
"I wonder who I will marry...  "
"hmmmm I can't marry my missionary boys (Josh, Nate and Kyler)... they already have their Megan's."  (Josh has a "Megan", and Nate has a  "Megan" except it's his sister. :))

We were watching General Conference...  the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was singing.  Jadyn sees a "black man" singing and says...
"Is that Mr. Mosby?"  (one of the main characters on "Suite life of Zach & Cody."  :))

Saige was invited to a "Feather Party" (like an open house for a company that sells "Hair feathers" which I find to be an extremely strange fad...)  Jady came with us and also had no idea what a "feather party" was.
We passed a big chicken farm, Jadyn said, "Oh, wow, I thought that was where the feather party was going to be!"

Tayler to a grumpy Jadyn... "You're a grumpy bear."
Jadyn replies snappily, "No, I'm NOT!  Because I'm NOT even a bear!"

And our favorite...
Jadyn has these awesome gold boots.
Tayler and her friends were over and said, "Wow only Jadyn could pull off those boots."
She said, "yep... I sure can... watch this."
And she bent right down and pulled those boots off!
And of course had no idea why the girls kept saying that all night so she would "pull them off."

What the rest of us have been up to...

I'll start with posting about what the girls did while Shane and I were off having a blast in Cabo...
They seemed to have an fun time without us...
and with Andy and Missy!
Makes us extra grateful for good girls and good family to help us with those girls!

Together they checked lots of summer-to-do-list things off...  by...

going to the fair.
playing in the sprinklers
going to the aquatic center
making rainbow pancakes
taking a hike to Tony's Grove
Going to Angie's to clean the sink
etc. etc. etc.

Before we knew it summer was over and we were back in school and Tayler was...
being crazy with friends...

And loving her school's dress-up days...

"Spirit Day"...
"Harry Potter Day"
"Super Hero Day"
 "Decade Day"
"Crazy Day"
And developing new highly useful skills like this...

Saige was being our little humanitarian the last couple months...
organizing, preparing and holding a bake sale for an orphanage in Quito Ecuador.
Her and Whitney (who's parents will be going to the orphanage next month) used it as a YW value project... and it was an intense one!
Those 2 girls spent over 18 hours (each) baking together in preparation, they designed and passed out flyers to our whole ward and surrounding businesses, AND held the sale for 5 hours.

We were proud of them...

They were exhausted by the end...
but it was all worth it, because thanks to generous friends, neighbors and family they earned $550!!
They then had a great time buying stuff for the orphanage and assembling it in their Beehive Class so that Whitney's parents can get it to Ecuador. :)
Good job girls!!

Saige also made lots and lots of bracelets for another YW project...
and sent them to Africa for our awesome missionary Elder Astle to pass out to the children in Mozambique...

I think they liked them!!

Thanks for making a difference Saige!

Kenna...  has been loving 3rd grade and loving FLIPPING!!

She was excited to do tricks in the Homecoming parade on what I as a mother felt was a little dangerous...
a trampoline... on a moving semi-flat bed... really??

But we were glad that she saw us and got to show us her stuff as she went by!

We also watched Tayler and Saige dance...
(love that Tayler had no other place to put her phone :))
(Saige is in the red shirt)
our little Jadyn... has just been Jadyn keeping us thoroughly entertained!

She had the tube in her ear REMOVED because it never fell out.
(I totally wanted to pay to put it in and THEN pay to take it out!  GRRR)

Amazingly she was OK with the surgery part...
but oh boy, she was NOT OK with having to wear those darn hospital PJ's that they made her wear.
They were tiger PJ's...
and she wanted nothing to do with them... or tigers for that matter!
We got GREAT videos and pictures of her "PJ" freak out!
But since most of the freaking out was due to us taking the videos and pictures and her telling us to DELETE them...
I am resisting putting them on here.
We love you Jadyn!

Shane... has been trying it slice his finger off for the hundredth time...

Another hazard of his occupation...
as I type this he is attempting to get his finger stitched up from a knife cut he got YESTERDAY!
That he was sure would be fine...
but apparently it ISN'T!
That boys hands are just a network of scars... and stories.
it could take all day telling the tales of how each one happened. :)

(Update only 2 of the 14 stitches held because his skin was too soggy (probably from wrapping it in carpet pad and duct tape... his first-aid products of choice) and wouldn't hold the stitches... GROSS, so they told him to go home and keep it up til' he can super-glue it tomorrow?...  He told me this on the way from the Dr.'s office back to work...  He doesn't listen to me.. or Dr's much either!!)

It's just like him though...  he's a hard worker... who tries to fit more hours into his 24 hr day than seems right.
Monday he...
Drove to SLC @ 3:30 am
took a flight to Seattle
then a 3 hr. drive to Vancouver
for an HOUR repair in the Vancouver LDS Temple
followed by a 3 hr drive back to Seattle
and a flight to SLC
then a drive home
He arrived home @ 11:45 PM...
and didn't think much of that schedule.  (And I'm not sure that the lady sitting next to him on the flight that he spilled his drink on... thought much of him either!)

Poor Shane... :(

I've... spent a couple great weekends with good friends.

One at Bear Lake with scrapbooking friends "scrapping away".  My girls were AMAZED that we sat around that table until wee in the morning and got right back up for more... and spent another entire day there... with NO TV at all... just chatting and being very productive!!  It was fabulous!!  So grateful for good friends and that Shane is so capable of caring for our girls.

Another weekend was spent @ "Timeout for Women" with more friends.  A fabulous event that I would highly recommend to all... there were tears and laughter... and a renewed sense of my worth as a women, wife and mother.

Funny thing... I was thinking that we hadn't done much in the last month or so. :)
But I'm not done yet!

What Lydia's been up to...

I've been a blog slacker...

So time to do some updating...
I thought I would start with Lydia, because let's face it... I take more pictures of her...
She's learning lots...

She's been chatting away and saying more and more things to us that are totally making sense... it's sooooo fun!

She's been learning to color (on the chalkboard)...

and learning to color other places too...

(She knew she was in trouble from the 2nd I saw her and said her name. :))

But she's also learned how to use those big brown eyes of hers to make everything right again...

She's learning new tricks with her big sisters...

And picked up quickly on "chasing down candy" at the Homecoming parade...

...she was quite content to eat the piece she got before going back for the next...

She's learned to be a fabulous momma to her dollies...

...and she has by no means mastered this next trick of hers...

But she does get a lot of reading time in...

Truly she would prefer to do this with her potty seat...
than actually USE it...

But she has issues and wants to "run free" as much as possible... and would prefer to stand in the bathroom and piddle rather than actually be on the toilet...

I guess it's a start...  (she is only 21 months... I know... I know :))

I've been keeping her in overalls and onesies so that she doesn't houdini out of that diaper of hers and leave poop smeared around in her crib like I found last week...

Not a trick that I thought I would post for you... :)

But here's one that I will...

She's learning about her shadow...
Totally the cutest thing when they are trying to find out who that friend is that is attached to them!

And she loves her sisters...
She's pretty much Jadyn's little shadow...
A shadow with an attitude who does NOT do everything Jadyn asks her to!

We kindof like having her around...
Stay tuned for what the rest of us have been up to...
