The Gift of Sight...

Yesterday I did something AMAZING and CREEPY and WONDERFUL all at the same time!!
I had LASIK and I can see... without any of these....
I'm still a little blurry, and my eyes are red and weird looking, but this morning at my appointment I was already at 20/30 which he said is pretty good for the day after surgeryr.
Shane watched the procedure yesterday... I swear there is something wrong with that man... I couldn't have watched!

Pretty sure "the gift of sight" is my best "birthday gift ever".

And a big thanks to Saige who helped out so much yesterday with her little sisters while I slept off my medication. (Shane headed back to girls camp with Tay). This morning Saige also cleaned the house, took care of her sisters, decorated my car and the garage door, AND made me breakfast in bed! I'm an awfully lucky Birthday girl!!

Home Sweet Home...

Obviously it has been established that we love Hawaii...  but right here in our little valley we are blessed with tremendous beauty too...
A Beautiful Double Rainbow over our gorgeous green mountains last week!!

And we found the pot-o-gold right in our own home!!  :)

Those rainbows were followed by this stunning sunset...

And then the next night after another long day of rain... another double rainbow... almost in the same spot.

With this sunset...
Obviously we have had lots of rain lately...  As I started this post I was listening to the rain pour down and feeling so bad for Tayler and all the cute YW who left for GIRLS CAMP this morning.  (And Shane... who decided last year that girls camp was the "BOMB" and made sure then that they knew he was in for the next year!!)  Knowing that they were all getting drenched...  When in pulls the truck with Tayler and a few friends who don't need to be reminded that... HOME SWEET HOME... isn't just a saying!!

More Hawaii...

Sadly... we had to leave Hawaii :(:(:(

...we will always remember the fabulous time we spent there...  I'm feeling a little jealous that Shane will be returning shortly to install carpet in the Laie Temple...  but then nobody is going to feel too bad for me this time I'm sure!!

Just in case you thought I only took a few pictures in Hawaii... I decided I better post a few more of "the best ones" from the 1500 on my camera!!  (not even joking!)

so...

We spent two fantastic nights at the Aston Waikiki Beach Tower...

I liked getting up early and watching my hot hubby and awesome Daddy surf right from our deck!  Even after we moved to our other condo they still drove in to Waikiki almost every morning.  (Tayler and Saige went with them one of those mornings).  Shane was hurting at first... (actually more like bawling like a baby!)  and he was not ashamed to let my Dad know that he was in MUCH better surfing shape than him!!

We were sad to leave Waikiki but quickly recovered on arriving at Marriott's Ko'Olina Resort...

I wouldn't mind waking up to this view every morning... for the rest of my life!!

We spent a glorious week here...  The lagoons were so much fun... and what child wouldn't want to swim in one of three pools like this... with a waterslide and waterfalls??

Ours certainly enjoyed it!!

We spent as much time as we could taking it all in... unlike my parents who take a very different Hawaii vacation than us...  My mom is content to sit on her lanai and crosstitch...  my dad... well after sufing he was good for a nap and family history stuff on the computer... throw in a good book... and round after round of "3 - 13" (a card game) add fantastic food in to the mix and they are in heaven.  I'm not sure my mom ever set foot on the beach???

But we all were very, very  happy!!

The girls liked climbing the palm trees... pretty much everything about palm trees... what's not to like about a palm tree?

We were excited that we got to visit with my niece Nikki who lives on Oahu...  She has a sweet new baby boy named Carlos and came to visit us for the day.  She pointed out that I was now a great aunt...  which makes me sound old... until you hear that I was a great aunt at the age of 20 when Shane's nephew who is 3 months older than him... had his first child!!  Which makes Carlos my 19th GREAT niece/nephew... Creepy huh!!

We had a fun little picnic... and of course took a few pictures!!

We visited the Dole Plantation Plant... rode the train and enjoyed our pineapple dole whip!

The girls made their own "leis".

Lydia looked adorable with a flower behind her ear...  not that she doesn't ALWAYS look adorable!

...and I don't know about you... but to me this picture says... "Don't you dare take one more picture Mom!"

We visited Pearl Harbor... and were too late in the day to go the Arizona Memorial :(

Lydia had her first swim...

and was a complete angel the whole trip!!

We tried taking a few family pictures with the timer...  not an easy task!!

Oh, and we were a COMPLETE spectacle with our five girls!!  We had at LEAST 10 comments PER DAY about the fact that we had 5 girls.  Some congratulating us on how beautiful and well behaved they were... many directed to Shane about "how sorry they felt for him."  :)  And one man even offered advice on how to get a boy????  ...That was REALLY odd!!  Kindof an akward moment when he announced that in front of our children...

But... in the world's defense... we were the only family that we saw with 5 girls the entire trip...  maybe we are like a circus... but we quite like it that way!!

Throughout the trip we ate lots of Hawaiin shaved ice...  why is it that Hawaiin shaved ice is so much better than Utah shaved ice???

And truly had more fun than we had even imagined!!

Thanks again mom and dad for such a wonderful trip!

It was an awfully great way to start out our Summer!!

Saige is 11...

Wednesday June 2nd was Saige's 11th Birthday...  we pretty much think she spent it doing some awfully amazing stuff...

She jumped off the rock at Waimea Bay...

Where we got to see two big pods of dolphins...

We snorkled with Poppa @ Sharks Cove while my momma watched Lydia and Jadyn...

Then headed to Hukilau Cafe in Laie for lunch...  Shane's favorite...

Then we were off for some fun at Hukilau Beach...

Shane and Saige played on the boogie board... that is until Saige got stung by one of these... on both legs!

a Blue Jellyfish...

That left Saige not enjoying her birthday very much for about a half-hour!!
(Notice the sting line on both of her legs.)

After recovering... we headed to Turtle Beach... sure enough there were turtles!!

Then on to "Motsumoto's" for Shaved Ice...

After that long day we were pooped and headed back to our resort to open presents...  and grab a bite at Chilis.  Saige was extra lucky because she celebrated her B-day 3 nights in-a-row at the restaurants... that meant she got yummy desserts like this!!

All in all Saige says it was "her best Birthday yet!!!    We love you Saige and are proud of the young lady you are becoming!!  We hope you never forget your "Hawaiin Birthday!"
What a perfect ending to a perfect day...
