We made a pit stop at Cabella's (which took much longer than we had planned) but it was really cool. And Jadyn LOVED all the animals - she kept saying "look, look" and running from spot to spot. When we finally got out of there we ate at PF Changs (delicious)... but we got some VERY bad advice. Obviously Provo is crowded on July 4th so we didn't know how close we should park So our stupid waiter tells us, "Oh, just park here in the University Mall parking lot and walk... it will only take 10 minutes." Apparently our waiter does not go to BYU, or know where it is, or maybe it was some sort of a sick joke because he had to be working on the 4th. But it was more like a 10 min. drive... on a good clear non-4th of July day! We walked for miles. Of course we were in good spirits and trying very hard to be positive. But after about a 20-30 min walk, Shane decided this was ridiculous so he ran back and parked about 3 miles closer than we were. The girls and I still didn't catch up with the other "smart" people (who were complaining about how far away they had parked - hahaha) for another 10 min. Luckily we had Jadyn in her stroller or we may not have made it there at all. But we finally did!
I had forgotten how uncomfortable stadium "benches" are... and there were no "extra" seats around us for spreading out, but that's part of the experience I suppose. The fireworks were fabulous and seemed to go on forever - but we decided that you should go to "Stadium of Fire" for the fireworks... and the patriotic feelings and messages that go along with that. We are so blessed to live in this fabulous country with so many opportunities. Most of us don't think as much about that as we should... the biggest worry that most of us have on the 4th of July is whether or not we bought enough food for to feed people at the many barbeques going on! The 4th of July really shouldn't be so much about that, and it really shouldn't be about the hyped up entertainment at a fireworks show either. But the patriotism thing was really not on my mind when I bought these tickets, truly for us the main purpose in going was for our girls to see Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus and... in the end I was disappointed - we "splurged" on these tickets because I thought that this would be extremely fun for the kids and so rewarding to see their excitement and there truly wasn't much excitement... besides the fact that they were dog tired from walking 5 miles... and the sound system was not strong enough for that whole stadium... 7 of the 10 songs that "Miley" sang were brand new... meaning on her next album that nobody had ever heard. I think when you are a perfomer for the tween age you can't do that. They want to hear the songs that they know, and they ones that the parents are sick of hearing but the kids love and see on Disney Channel everyday! Mine sat there catching flies - and those were really expensive flies too! The girl smiles and screams did come out for the last 3 songs but by then it was close to 10:30 and everyone was tired. All in all it was a good experience... and we of course had fun, but it didn't meet all of our expectations. Tayler's main comment was, "well I know one thing - she sure does play with her hair a lot when she sings!"
OK now for the part that not many of you will be reading since I just posted an hours worth of stuff. But count yourself lucky if you still are. Because our family may now join the likes of the Donkey in the van family.
I tried to find a hotel... with of course no luck. We decided that it wasn't all that safe to try to start driving home at 11:30 on such a busy night... so we did the unthinkable... we camped... but not like normal people in a tent... we camped in Shane's 16' enclosed utility trailer... you know the kind with no windows... and now for the best part... we parked in the WalMart parking lot. Yes you heard me right we did the red - neckedest camping job of all. And I know you are wondering about this... yes our whole family did go in to use the restroom before bed. Bet nobody ever did that with their family! I'm thinking that will be a memory we will talk about for years! (Oh and by the way there was a 5th wheel trailer parked a couple of stalls over from us. (yes they were sleeping there too.) The man came over and nicely asked if we would like to come use their facilities. We passed...) I know you are smiling right now. Bet you're glad you kept reading.

Yup, I laughed out loud. Too funny! So the tickets to the fireworks/concert were a bit pricey, but would you have been able to make the Wal-Mart camp out memory with out them? Probably not. Now you have a new entry for the Bean Game (where you try to say things about yourself that no one else can say.) You can say, "I've camp out with my young children in a trailer in a Wal-Mart parking lot." Go girl!
Oh my Ange! That camping experience is priceless! I cannot picture Angie Wegener Falslev camping in a utility trailer in the Wal-mart parking lot! I don't normally comment, but I couldn't pass up this one!
That trailor doesn't look as bad as it sounds at first, but it is very funny! Sometimes the cheaper way is a much more fun and memorable way.
that is hilarious...we were at stadium of fire too and were pretty disappointed, you could have come stayed with us...sorry you slept at walmart but like you said, a great memory for sure!!
