October 2019

October was filled with Disneyland and the first day of our Hawaii trip...

Plus...

Lots of Green Canyon Football.
Ha ha I must have lumped most of those pictures in September though cuz this is it. ;)

And Volleyball...  State Champs!

My big girls all made it to Addams Family @ Pickleville and LOVED it.
Since Kenna and Saige both tend for a FEW of the Davis families' they got free tickets
(+ Tayler with Kenzie as her bestie.)

Side note...
Not many people can say that they fold Bandito's underwear... but Saige can + she gets paid to do it!

It was rare to find Saige without an extra kid or two or three or four...
Lydia loves that she gets to come along on adventures.  Thanks Saige!

Also Saige spent about 6 weeks dating Bren every weekend.

And then... one day he was gone.
She still hasn't heard from him 3 months later.
What a stupid, stupid boy...
his loss!

There was Pumpkin Carving...

Matching days at Church (not on purpose.)

Pumpkin soup bowl night.

Shane had a week working on the Manhattan Temple.

Lydia had her Primary Program... I can't believe next year will be her last!

Fun Halloween friend parties...

And Halloween... which sadly Shane and I missed while on our flight to Hawaii.
Thanks for covering Saige!

That's Mal from Descendants if you didn't know. ;)

October... you seem like a very long time ago since currently we are muddling through a super long January.  But it was a good one!

Jadyn's Miracle...

9 years ago when Tayler was 13 she was diagnosed with scoliosis.
It wasn't a big deal at first, just something to watch.
Then puberty hit and within 6 months... her curve of about 13 degrees had dramatically changed to an S curve of about 40 degrees at the top and 35 degrees at the bottom.
She started seeing a specialist down at Primary Childrens.
Tayler had one fear... and it wasn't back surgery.
It was that she would have to wear one of those awful hard turtle shell braces.
She said she would rather the surgery than that!
Since it moved so quickly there wasn't any reason to try to brace... it would probably continue to get progressively worse.
We were left with 2 choices... surgery or no surgery.
That's all they could do.

She has progressed some to about a 45% curve... surgery is all but necessary at 50%.
So far she is able to control her pain with a therapist that she thinks is amazing.

Our pediatrician has always felt bad that he didn't get us to a specialist sooner... although I don't think it would have made much difference.

But when he noticed a slight curve in Jadyn's back at age 10 he sent us immediately to Shriner's for annual checkups.

The appointments go something like this... an X-ray is taken... then he talks to us about the slight changes and his concern that during puberty it will progress.  But for now he'll see us in another year, but come in earlier if she starts to grow a lot.

I slacked... and I was worried that I hadn't got her in soon enough it had been 14 months.
She was at about a 13 degree curve back in 2018 and I was praying that it wasn't more than 20 degrees.

The appointment was exactly the same... the X-ray was taken and then the doctor walked in the room to talk to us.

He handed the X-ray to Jadyn and said... "you don't have scoliosis."
He proceeded to tell us that he couldn't explain it.
That backs don't straighten out on their own.
Then he threw out a few reasons that it could be... maybe she was having muscle spasms and that was why?  But muscle spasms for 3 years?  He ended by saying it's not something that I can explain medically.  But... there isn't any question that you had scoliosis and now you don't.

We were shocked.
When we got in the car I looked at her and asked her if she thought maybe being in the Stake Family History calling and being willing to take the Prophet and General Authorities counsel to participate in Family History... at any age had something to do with it?

Her answer was... "as soon as he said that... that was the first thing I thought of that."

Whatever the reason it was a miracle.
Heavenly Father knows her and blessed her.
I hope that Jadyn holds that knowledge dear to her heart... for forever.
